Programs and Tuition

Student Age Requirements

  • Minimum age to begin training: 6 years old.

Promotion Testing & Progression

Students earn the opportunity to test through consistent attendance, rank stripes, and minimum required training time.

Testing Frequency

  • Monthly testing is available for students who:

    • Have earned the appropriate rank stripes, and

    • Have completed the minimum required training time for their rank.

  • Students under age 7 test once every 6 months.
This allows younger students to build comfort, coordination, and confidence as they ease into the curriculum.

Minimum Training Time by Rank

Minimum training time is based on attending all recommended classes for the student.

  • White Belt: minimum 24 hours of training (per rank)

  • Yellow Belt: minimum 32 hours of training (per rank)

  • Green Belt: minimum 40 hours of training (per rank)

  • Blue Belt: minimum 50 hours of training (per rank)

  • Red Belt: minimum 144 hours of training (per rank)

Attendance Rule (Important)

Minimum training time assumes the student is attending 3 classes per week as recommended. If a student misses more than one training day, the missed days are added to the end of the required training time before they may test.

1st Dan (Black Belt) Age Requirement

  • No student under age 11 may test for 1st Dan.

  • Master Davis authorization is required to test for 1st Dan.

  • For students under age 11, minimum training time may increase depending on the student’s starting age and overall readiness. (Translation: time in rank matters, but so does maturity and consistency—black belt standards stay high.)

Rank Stripes and What They Mean

Stripes are used to clearly show what a student has achieved and what they’ve completed for their current rank.

  • Red Stripe: Student has learned their current pattern

  • White Stripe: Student has learned the required Hoshin Sool (Self-Defense)

  • Blue Stripe: Student has memorized their rank’s required knowledge

  • Green Stripe: Student has mastered their pattern—showing critical understanding, clean movements, and control (not just memorization)
